🇺🇸 What is Casa Terracota?

Casa Terracota is “cooked clay soil”; just as the word “terracotta” conveys. What is it then? It is a construction made by hand, with the help of agricultural tools such as buckets, shovels, pikes and wheelbarrows . Little by little it is raised and then it is baked so that—as it happens with sand castles—water won’t destroy it. This “cooked clay soil” is strong enough to endure throughout time, just as a small brick does.

Casa Terracota signifie ” Maison en terre cuite” ; Mais à quoi le mot “terracota” fait-il référence ? Il s’agit d’une construction faite à la main, avec des outils agricoles, des seaux, des pelles, des bêches, des brouettes et la main de l’homme. Elle a été érigée, petit à petit, par couches d’argile successives, puis cuite pour que – comme les châteaux de sable que nous faisions étant enfants – l’eau ne vienne pas la détruire. Cette terre cuite est suffisamment solide pour tenir dans le temps, comme une petite brique.

„Casa Terracota“ bedeutet „gebrannte Erde“. Es handelt sich also um ein Bauwerk, das von Hand errichtet wurde, und zwar mit landwirtschaftlichen Werkzeugen wie Eimern, Schaufeln, Spitzhacken und Schubkarren. Stück für Stück wurde es aufgebaut und dann – ähnlich wie eine Sandburg, die man als Kind baut – gebrannt, damit es nicht durch Wasser oder Klimaeinflüsse zerstört wird. Diese gebrannte Erde ist dadurch widerstandsfähig genug, um die Zeit zu überdauern, genau wie ein kleiner Ziegelstein.

Casa Terracota è ‘terra cotta’, proprio come suggerisce la parola ‘terracotta’. Cos’è allora? È una costruzione fatta a mano, con l’aiuto di attrezzi agricoli come secchi, pale, zappe e carriole. Pian piano viene costruita e poi cotta affinché, come accade con i castelli di sabbia, l’acqua non la distrugga. Questa ‘terra cotta’ è abbastanza forte da resistere nel tempo, proprio come fa un piccolo mattone.

Casa Terracota is ‘gebakken kleigrond’, zoals het woord ‘terracotta’ suggereert. Wat is het dan? Het is een constructie die met de hand is gemaakt, met behulp van landbouwgereedschap zoals emmers, schoppen, houwelen en kruiwagens. Beetje bij beetje wordt het opgebouwd en vervolgens gebakken zodat, net zoals bij zandkastelen, water het niet zal vernietigen. Deze ‘gebakken kleigrond’ is sterk genoeg om de tand des tijds te doorstaan, net als een kleine baksteen.

Casa Terracota to ‘upieczona glina’, tak jak sugeruje słowo ‘terracotta’. Co to jest? Jest to konstrukcja wykonana ręcznie, przy użyciu narzędzi rolniczych takich jak wiadra, łopaty, kilofy i taczki. Stopniowo jest wznoszona, a następnie wypalana, aby – podobnie jak w przypadku zamków z piasku – woda jej nie zniszczyła. Ta ‘upieczona glina’ jest wystarczająco silna, aby przetrwać przez cały czas, tak jak mała cegła.

A Casa Terracota é feita de “barro cozido”, exatamente como a palavra terracotta significa. Mas o que é, então? É uma construção feita à mão, com a ajuda de ferramentas agrícolas como baldes, pás, picaretas e carrinhos de mão. Pouco a pouco, ela vai sendo erguida e depois é queimada, para que — assim como acontece com os castelos de areia — a água não a destrua. Esse “barro cozido” é forte o suficiente para resistir ao tempo, assim como um pequeno tijolo.
